Subject: Speed Tables
 From  Message
Michael Tyler - 2/2/2009 1:03:39 PM How well do speed tables fare when it snows? Do they
have to be taken up before plowing? Are they vandal
proof? What is the cost (based on square foot?)? We have
four 25 foot wide street areas that we may consider
installing these tables. But with snow plowing always
inevitable we can't afford to have our city workers rip up
these devices.

Also, as bike/ped chairman for the City of Lewes,
Delaware have begun the process of acquiring two
feedback speed limit signs from TrafficLogix. The request
is in process with our Department of Transportation and it
is out of our control at this point. I'm sure as we get
confirmation of approval the city manager will submit our
order to purchase. For now we have to wait for the wheels
in Dover to turn...slowly.

Craig Timothy, - 4/14/2009 10:38:27 AM Michael while our speed tables are very effective in slowing down traffic on residential streets they are not designed to be snow plowed. We advise our customers who live in the snow enviroments to remove the devices during the winter months.

The snow plow drivers appreciate not having to contend with the speed humps/tables/cushions in the winter months when they would otherwise be covered with snow and they can't see them.

The residents also appreciate not having to drive over the devices when the roads are icy and slippery.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks,

Craig
